Serial Frivolous Lawsuit Filer Declared Vexatious Litigant

After a woman filed 14 frivolous lawsuits and requests for civil harassment restraining orders (7 against our client), we obtained a court order declaring her a vexatious litigant pursuant to the California Code of Civil Procedure section 391.2, requiring her to post a $50,000 bond to proceed with her pending litigation pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure section 391.1, and prohibiting her from filing any further lawsuits without permission from the presiding judge pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure section 391.7. The court found her to be a “persistent and obsessive litigant.” Her dismissed lawsuits claimed billions of dollars in damages against our client, a major religious corporation, and its clergy leaders. The $50k bond and presiding judge preapproval requirements may effectively prohibit future suits from this now officially designated vexatious litigant.
